Thornton Houghs Annual Scarecrow Festival 2002

Details of the 2002 Event :
- The event ran from the 1st to 7th July and included an all day fete on the Saturday. During the fete there were Ferret Displays and racing by "The North West Ferret Owners Club" on the village green.
- The scarecrows were situated in Raby and Brimstage as well as Thornton Hough.
- A number of prizes were offered for Best fed Scarecrow, Best Coiffured Scarecrow and Best Harry Potter Scarecrow.
- The fete also included hay rides, childrens rides a classic car display and a have-a-go clay pigeon shooting event.
- The ladies Clogg Morris Dancers performed for visitors at the Seven Stars public house in the centre of the village and there was also a scarecrow fancy dress football match on the village green.
From Damsels in Distress, to Knights of the round table, to Spiderman .. all were represented somewhere at the 2002 event..
and off course ....Harry Potter and his chums !!!!
