Thornton Houghs Scarecrow Festival 2000-2003

I first stumbled on the Thornton Hough Scarecrow festival in July 2000 when the village went all out to try to break the world record for the most numbers of scarecrows in one place. The festival is run by a voluntary organisation and its general aims are to take any money made and put it back into the upkeep of the villages of Thornton Hough Raby and Brimstage. This site contains details of my visits to the 2000 to 2003 festivals. Unfortunately the event was not run during 2001 because of the foot and mouth epidemic.

The 2003 Thornton Hough Scarecrow festival took place from 28th of June to 6th July ...Click on the Scarecrow to the left to see some of the Scarecrows that caught my eye, and learn more about the events that went on during the week.
