| Tuesday 6th September: | Oxton's going underground. You may
have heard the strange story of Joseph Williamson, the so-called Mole of
Edge Hill who financed the excavation of a labyrinth of tunnels under Liverpool.
The tunnels are now open to the public and the Society has arranged a special opportunity for you to explore this unique and thrilling aspect of local history on Tuesday 6 September. Tickets (£10 per head) include a conducted tour of the tunnels, ample food, one free glass of wine (and a pay bar). Five tours of up to 16 people each and lasting around 40 minutes will start at 18:30, 18:50. 19:10, 19:30 and 19:50. Visitors are asked to make their own way to the tunnel Visitor Centre (directions provided with the ticket). Book early by sending your details, your preferred tour time, and a cheque for £10 per head (payable to the Oxton Society) to Eric James, 3 Victoria Mount, Oxton CH43 5TH (0151 513 1998).
