Webhost waffle ..about this time last year I started to consider putting together a multimedia CD rom about Oxton Village. After a number of weeks working on it events overtook me and I never quite finished it. During September I stumbled across what I had previously completed on my hard drive and decided to spend some more time working on the publication. This prompted me to make a trip to the reference library to perform some research into the growth and development of Oxton. Ultimately I am hoping to add an essay of my findings to the CD however I thought it might be a good idea to add a new 'did you know Oxton' section to the monthly diary, the first of which can be found below.

I have begun work on a couple of new galleries which should be uploaded during October having been on a quick trip round the village this week to get some up to date images

Urban Design Week -on Friday 20th September Ainsley Gommon Architects hosted a walk in conjunction with the Oxton Society around the centre of Oxton to discuss the character of Oxton Village and how it can be improved. I believe that a number of locals attended this event and it will be interesting to see if anything positive results from this. I wonder if they can do anything about the parking or get removed some of the "posters" that have appeared on bollards around the village, or maybe they can get the council to finish the job with the lamposts that appeared some time ago ...how about someone coming back and removing the now redundant ones that don't work, its a dogs paradise out there.
If you have any thoughts on any improvementes why not add them to the village community noticeboard.

Did you know Oxton...the first in a series of bits of useless information about Oxton....with the results of the 2001 census just becoming available did you know that in 1801 Oxton is recorded as having a population of 137, and consisted of just 28 "cottages". By 1991 this population had grown to 16,744 and there were 6748 households.
Although there were only 137 Oxtonites in 1801, Birkenhead had even less residents with only 110 registered ...how things change.

This Time Last year...I was looking forward to the annual leaf pilgramage to my front door, and reflecting on the fact that the previous year we had been ravaged by 90 miles per hour winds. With the weather currently looking pretty good hopefully I will be saved for at least the next couple of weeks.

September 2000 .. well the site had been running for a total of six months and I had just added a chat room, unfortunately this did not take off and was later removed from the site. No real news about events in the village was included as I perfromed a review of the first six months.

Why not leave a message on the village noticeboard.
