March 2002 - Another Year Older as Easter Arrives

Webhost ramblings ..On the 29th March 2002 the Oxton Village website celebrated it's third birthday, to mark the occassion I added the Easter theme to the site and put up a new splash screen on the site. The new format diary seems to have been favourably received ,judging by the feedback I received last month, so I have decided to carry it on this month.

The Annual general meeting of the Oxton Society was held this month followed by a talk on Tree conservation. Unfortunately due to work commitments I was unable to attend the meeting. However I am currently chasing up the Society for any details which will be added to the Oxton Society section of the site when I receive them.

One other bit of news is that the application for the building of the flats in Claughton Firs has progressed to higher courts, with a submission by the developers to The Secretary of State for the Environment. This is after their first application was withdrawn and second resused planning permission....watch this space for more news as this story unfolds.

This months Picture Teaser ...do you know where this is in Oxton ?

An Easter Challenge ..Last Easter I added an Easter Egg hunt to the site which basically took visitors on a trip around some of the pages on the site. This year I'm afraid that I haven't had time to do a hunt, however here's a thought for a quick hunt if someone would care to take up the challenge...Recently Oxton Conservation signs were added to many sign posts in the area..can anyone out there spot them all ?
Those leylandii's .. a petition has been set up asking for people to sign up to oppose the order placed on the cutting down of the leylandii in Village Road. The Oxton website is offering a chance for people to sign up to this petition online. I have also, added a 'Tree Page" on the site which includes write up on the societies response to the request for the preservation order taken from their recent newsletter.
Oxton Reunited ... one of the interactive sections of the site. Have you left Oxton and lost touch with locals or would you like to set up a reunion.

Why not leave a message on this board.

This time last year ..well the site records it's 3000th hit, I reported that Huttons had started hiring out video's and also that there appeared to have been a number of petty crimes in the village ..no mention of leaves, however I did mention that I hoped the weather would improve before the Easter Break.

Two years ago I had just set up the site containing a few pages and showing a picture of the Caernervon castle. I was also suprised to receive 9 guestbook signators in my first month.
