 Webhost ramblings ..Would
you believe it.. it's March already
how time flies by when it's
raining. Not much to report on the web development front this month. I
finally managed to get the annual review up for 2002 the other day. I
also reindexed the site during January and changed the layout of the village
diary main page.
The main news for the month was the granting of permission for the
building of the flats in Claughton Firs, so hopefully I will be able
to follow the progress of this development over the year. It appears that
the new development is to be called Broklis Manor and will commence
during the next month, taking approximately eight months to complete.
Although I accept that something has to be done with the site it will
mean that the above view of Liverpool will effectively lost to the existing
houses of Claughton Firs.
A new shop also opened in the centre of the village, the imaginatively titled
Ox"tan sunbeds which opened opposite the Oxton Arms in Claughton Firs.
Oxton Society Events ..There
appear to be a number of Oxton Society events taking place in the coming
months including the annual general meeting on the 25th of March and
the secret gardens event on the 11th of May. Don't forget that you can
get more information by looking at the Societies own pages.
The Oxton Plaque : On the
same day as the nominations for the oscars were made I received a note
through my front door to tell me that the Oxton Village site had received
a nomination for a new award to be offered by the Oxton Society. There
will be an opportunity for members of the society to vote on the winner
of this award at the AGM and it is hoped that it can become an annual
event aimed at promoting Oxton.
Details of the other nominations are given below.
1) 29a Fairview Road : double sandstone wall lining long
driveway
2) 47 Rose Mount : Lean-to garage replaced by period garage forecourt
3) 53/53a Claughton Firs : second hand shop converted into living accommodation
