Webhost Ramblings ... I've decided that the time has come to revamp the layout of the monthly diary section on the site this month, and I'm going to attempt to email this out to the members of the mailing list this month. I'd appreciate any comments on the new format or thoughts on things that I could do to improve it.

During the month a new section in the art gallery was added, introducing the artwork of local artist Chris Millichamp. His work can currently be seen on the walls of Beadles restaurant in the centre of the village and contains a number of pictures of local scenes that can be purchased at very reasonable prices.

Well only a quick ramble this month hope you have a good March and keep an eye on the site for the Easter theme. If I have time I may add another Easter quiz at some time during the month.

What's in the news ... well basically Oxton.. During February the village managed to feature in the Daily Mail and also in the Independant paper as well as on local television. The main topic of conversation was whether or not a tree should be chopped down in one of the gardens in the village. The upshot being, for the moment ..no, although I believe that further legal proceedings may commence. (see more in the Oxton Society section.)

The other article was part of a comparison of the prices of houses in five 'Village Idylls' the selected residence being one of the cottage style terraced properties at the foot of Poplar road.

The Garage in Claughton Firs also disappeared when the tractors moved in and levelled the buildings standing on it..interesting really as no planning permission has been given to build anything on the site yet ..watch this space!!

I am attempting to keep the community noticeboard up to date with events as they happen .. this service is open to all visitors to the site. So please add any events that you know about in or around the village. This section also provides the opportunity for people to discuss topical events so why not drop by a leave your comments..we already have a poetic entry left by someone signing themselves as Oxton Babe

Oxton Village Online

This time last year.. looks like the weather was the main topic of conversation. The picture for the month showed a light covering of snow in the back garden. The main talking point the great comeback by Tranmere Rovers in the F.A. Cup against Southampton coming back from 3-0 down to defeat them 4-3. Unfortunately they weren't that fortunate this year losing 4-0 to Tottenham in the same round this year earlier this month.
