For a friendly relaxing night out in the centre of the village

Webhost waffle ..If you ask me this year is fairly flying by, I can't believe that we're already in September. I seem to have spent much of August on day trips around the area (when the weather was fine) and pictures of some of these days may well be added to the village trips site over the coming months. Amazingly the site has continued to attract visitors with over 550 hits during the month, and the noticeboard has even received a couple of new messages.
With the football season upon us I have spent some time updating the Tranmere Rovers Men in White site although for this season I have decided not to do match reports after each game..hopefully the team can continue with their positive start.
Finally don't forget that the Oxton Society is holding a Barn Dance on 13th of September at Trinity with Palm Grove Church Hall with doors opening at 7.30p.m. details of this are on their website.

Website Updates - I haven't quite got round to making many changes this month after all I achieved in July. However I managed to add a new collection of pictures to the village gallery. These are from the 2001 and 2002 secret gardens events. Most of these have previously featured on the site but I thought it might be a good idea to revisit some of them, and provide larger images in a formal way.

Community Festival in the Arno -Last month I mentioned that a Community Arts festival was scheduled for mid August. The original date was canceled which left me walking around the Arno with my camera looking rather silly on a Saturday afternoon. However it was subsequently rescheduled and ran on 31st August to 1st September.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend the event as I was out of the area at the weekend. Hopefully it was a success and everyone had a great time. If anyone attended or has pictures from the event then please get in touch and I'll add details to the site.

Oxton Society news - An email was recently sent out by the Oxton society to their mailing list, a copy of which has been added to the Societies email section on their website. This also includes details on how you can join the Society and become a member of their mailing list.

Claughton Firs flats... the village noticeboard has been updated with a message from the contractors seeking approval for the new flats in Claughton Firs. As this is something that a lot of locals are interested in I thought I'd copy the details below.-
- The Appeal against the WBC's Refusal of Planning Permission failed, and the Appeal was rejected by the Planning Inspector.
- A new proposal for the site, of 12 apartments and associated parking to the rear, has been drafted by us, The Kenefick Jones Partnership, and is currently awaiting pre-planning replies from the Local Authority, before a formal submission is submitted.
- Once the LA's decision is made known to us, a formal Planning Application will be made by us, on behalf of the developers, Samlaw Developments.
Once the Planning Application is made, we will make the plans available to any interested party by one of two methods : The plans will be available for download from our website www.kenefickjones.com (which at the moment is under re-construction) We will e-mail the plans directly, to anyone that requests a copy to chris@kenefickjones.com.

Your comments on the proposals, be they for or against, will be welcomed either by e-mail or snail mail at the following address. The Kenefick Jones Partnership, Charter House, 11-13 Downham Road South, Heswall,
Wirral, Cheshire. CH60 5RG.

This Time Last year...the Oxton Society Conservation signs appeared on the lampposts around the village and a planning application was lodged for the erection of flats in Claughton Firs.

August 2000 .. I had added a page to the site documenting a bowls match at the Conservative club. This page is now part of the village trips website. I was also trying to uncover some of the mysteries of Oxton. After a number of attempts to get this section going I eventually gave up on this due to lack of interest.

Why not leave a message on the village noticeboard.
