Changing Pubs
...I suppose its a case of the old addage ..you stand at a bus stop for hours on end and then three turn up all together. It appears that the three main pubs at the centre of the village have undergone a number of changes over the past couple of months. I therefore thought  that I'd see if I could visit them and take some pictures of the results.

The Queens Hotel ...My first port of call was the Queens Hotel, where I met with the landlord Chris Hughes who has recently purchased the pub from the brewery. He informed me that he is embarking on a sustained attempt to improve the pub, however at the moment his finances are somewhat limited, that said, I visited the pub a couple of months ago and I could  already see a number of  improvements.

Looking round the bar area the pool table has been moved from the back of the pub and sits to the left of the door as you enter the bar. (O.K so I know it's been there for some time but some of us remember when it was up at the back !!). The bar remains much the same as always, with traditional bar stools lined up down the side however the bar has benefitted from a new coat of paint

Inside the main bar are a couple of relaxing leather settees and chairs where you can sit and watch the 'bigscreen' satellite TV. (whilst I was there this was showing the news). It was also nice to hear background music in the pub (not too loud) this is something that seems to be missing from pubs these days.

The biggest change within the pub is the eating area which is concentrated in the upper sections of the pub and ..a major bonus for parents with children, The Queens actually seems to cater for children with a bar menu and food served daily from 2-7 p.m.

For more information on the pub and other pubs in the village see the Drinks section of the site.
