Background Summary The Oxton Village site was first published on 29/03/2000. The original intention of the site was to provide a centralised site containing information on the shops, restaurants and public houses in the Oxton Village area. During 2001 it continued to grow and and a number of new sections were set up including a large area of the site containing information on the Oxton Society, and coverage of a number of local events. |

Looking back.. after the growth in hits in 2001 it was great to see the site continue to attract visitors in 2002. 2001 also saw me set up the village community forum which has the potential to be developed during 2003. G Chart showing monthly hits in 2002 (green) against monthly hits in 2001 (yellow). the growth over the summer is probably as a result of advertising in the Wirral Champion. Looking Forward .. well I have to say that my main concern for 2003 is whether or not I can continue to attract visitors to the site. So my first aim will probably be to look to concentrate on the promotion of the site. It would be great if I could get the average visitors close to 500 per month.... The monthly diary currently has over fifty subscribers per month and I will probably try to keep this section of the site going. I spent some time over the last summer reading up and researchng the growth of Oxton and I'm hoping to add more of this to the site over the coming year. It would be nice if more people left posts on the Village Noticeboard so I may spend some time looking into developing this part of the site as I'm convinced that there is loads of scope for development here. Sponsors/Advertisers .. I am funding this site out of my own money so if there are any businesses or locals out there who would like to advertise on the site or even have a page within it then please get in touch.

What happened in 2002 ..well it was a
bit of a hectic year with a number of developments both on the site and
in the Village. A number of shops changed hands and the Village hit
the national press on more than one occassion.
The Secret gardens event in May 2002 attracted over 2000 visitors and was once again a resounding success....with great weather !!!. This was followed up with the first village fireworks display in November. The discussions over the proposed flats in Claughton Firs continued, and this is once again due to go before the council planning officials in February 2003. Oxton residents also saw the value of their houses rocket and a number of 'flat' developments appear to have taken place throughout the area. The case of the Leylandii saw Oxton hit the national press when a campaign was started by residents to attempt to get a Leylandii cut down in their front garden. After a petition and a lot of local debate the offending tree was finally cut down in December. It all got a bit tecky in the middle of the year when I added a couple of 360 degree pans of Oxton and introduced a couple of "flash adverts". I'm hoping to do a few more during the coming year and may even get round to putting some video footage on the site. Finally I would like to thank all the people who have stopped by the site over the past year and also for the encouraging comments that I have received . I am always looking out for new ideas and would welcome any feedback on the site. All the best for the coming year Paul Knight |
Feedback .... Is there anything you'd like to see on the site ? or maybe you would like to contribute a section. Please get in touch and let me know by emailing me on webhost@oxtonvillage.com Images of Oxton : During 2002 I spent quite a bit of time adding a new gallery to the site, and I am hoping to continue updating this during 2003. This site contains a number of pictures of Oxton Village. If I have time I'm hoping to display some of these at the Secret Gardens event this year. |
