Background Summary The Oxton Village site was first published on 29/03/2000. The original intention of the site was to provide a centralised site containing information on the shops, restaurants and public houses in the Oxton Village area. Since then it has grown into an interactive online site with a variety of sections. |

Looking back.. during 2000 the site averaged 288 hits per month. In 2001 there was a steady growth in hits, which resulted in a final average for the year of 317 hits per month. G Looking Forward .. During 2001 I began a section called roads around Oxton. Unfortunately I did not complete as many roads as possible. My first task for 2002 will be to develop this section of the site.In conjunction with this I am also hoping to continue adding screen savers and downloads to the downloads section. Finally during 2001 I began to develop a multimedia CD Rom of the village. This will contain much of what is contained on the website, however I am also hoping to add Video and a more comprehensive set of better quality images to this. Sponsors/Advertisers .. I am funding this site out of my own money so if there are any businesses or locals out there who would like to advertise on the site or even have a page within it then please get in touch. |
What happenned in 2001 ..The main developments on the site in
2001 centred around the community forum and guestbooks. The community
forum gives visitors the opportunity to leave messages or start topics
on anything village related there is also a contact board where people
can attempt to contact locals either in the area or who have left.
The site has enjoyed a close link with the Oxton Society and as such I have dedicated a section to the Society. This page now has its own counter and allows visitors to contact the society direct. Much of 2001 was spent optimising the site so that pages download quicker. I have also looked to add more images throughout the site and at the end of the year began to revamp the downloads section. and Finally.. I would like to thank all the people who have stopped by the site over the past year and also for the encouraging comments that I have received . I am always looking out for new ideas and would welcome any feedback on the site.
