Details From 2000-2001

 Introduction
The Oxton Village site was first published on 29/03/2000. The intention of the site was to provide a centralised site containing information on the shops, restaurants and public houses in the Oxton Village area. When originally published it contained a page for each shop, church and pub in the immediate vacinity of the village. Since then the site has developed and I have added a Chat room, search facility and most recently a Village Forum.

There are opportunities for local businesses to advertise on the site, and also to have pages set up within it. To date the only local business to take advantage of this has been the Villa Jazz restaurant whose pages are curently averaging over 70 hits per month and a raising steadily.

The site also has a close link with the Oxton society and publishes details for the Society on a regular basis. You can also email the society on oxtonsociety@oxtonvillage.com.

Ongoing developments

The main site is updated at regular intervals during the month with pictures and new sections. On a monthly basis I also publish my thoughts for the previous month in the form of  a village diary. It is also possible to receive this via email by joining the village mailing list (no longer running). For the coming year I am hoping to provide some downloads of mini picture albums and desktop monthly pictures.

The Village Community forum provides an area where any topics can be discussed or posted, it is hoped that this area of the site will develop further over the coming months.
