Image Gallery

Pictures of the shops in Christchurch Road appear in the following galleries.

Christ Church road is one of the five main roads that fan out from the centre of Oxton Village. At the top end of the road where it joins with Claughton Firs and Palm Hill sit a number of shops.

On the one side of the road are a number of shops including, Oxton Village Flowers, Mike Baxendales traditional barbers shop, The Drawing Room, Bruce Stewart Hess (estate agents) and the local Post Office.

On the other side of the road sits Huttons general store, The Green Society/community shop and a general store. After the shops continuing down the road are a number of houses. On the right hand side of the road these begin to move away from the road and a telephone box can be found. At the bottom of the road sits Christ church.

The other side of the road includes a castlellated tower running up one side of it, which was built around 1866 forming an integrated part of a larger building known as Normanstons. This building was used at the turn of the centre as a College and Music Academy for young girls, however it was converted into flats in 1936 and remains so now
